Functieomschrijving
A Commercial Oil operator provides professional oil and freight scheduling/operations services to the various trading desks. The COOs are part of a team of operators led by the Trading Operations Team Leader and are assigned to a trading desk, working closely with the respective trader/optimizer.
Daily tasks
Commercial day to day operations include the load / discharge co-ordination of barges and sea-going vessels , pipeline scheduling and refinery / depot feasibility planning. Close liaison with Traders, Channel / Product Optimizers and barge schedulers is required to ensure that all contractual and operational obligations arising from the contracts / charter parties are carried out.
By working as part of a team, the commercial operator is expected to:
- Plan scheduling and execution of hydrocarbon movements (refined products or components) from refineries or 3rd party supply points to meet demand, inventory & service levels at the various receiving terminals. (Modes of transportation range from rail / pipeline / seagoing vessels to barges);
- Ensure the feasibility of refinery and depot stocks by managing / controlling supply and demand planning;
- Perform supply activities related to oil movements and product quality handling consistent with local requirements;.
- Seek to add value by exercising embedded commercial and logistical deal options;
- Deal with oil and freight counter-parties, terminals and vessels on a regular/continuous basis regarding all pre/current and post-deal activities;
- Ensure necessary operational information is passed on in good time and documentary requirements are met;
- Monitor progress of the various oil movements;
- Ensure that all oil and freight operational information is entered into trading- and supply systems on time and ensure that adequate records are kept to meet the company's legal and fiscal obligation;
- Ensure that all data pertaining to cargo or barge claims/demurrage are recorded in the trading systems to enable efficient handling by the relevant oil claims/demurrage department;
- Liaise with (Transport desk) charterers to ensure smooth operations, avoid supply disruption and minimize demurrage costs;
The scope of this position may vary depending on the operational activities assigned per desk.
Functie-eisen
- HBO education; ideally in the field of logistics;
- 2 to 4 years of experience within logistics operations (supply, terminal, scheduling etc.);
- Strong interest in- and enthusiasm about logistics operations;
- Fluent Dutch and English speaker;
- Fluent French or German would be a strong advantage.
